A forecast report released by the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) on the 26th pointed out that between 2025 and 2027, semiconductor manufacturers will spend a record US$400 billion on computer chip manufacturing equipment, with China, South Korea, and Taiwan spending the most.

Artificial intelligence (AI) chips have driven advanced packaging to be in short supply, and the development of panel-level fan-out packaging (FOPLP) has become the focus of market attention. Taiwanese factories including Innolux, Power Technologies, ASE Investment Controls, and TSMC are planning for mass production. Semiconductor equipment manufacturers are also actively blocking positions and striving for a one-stop supply chain.

The United States and India have reached an agreement to set up semiconductor manufacturing plants in India, boosting Prime Minister Narendra Modi's efforts to revitalize local manufacturing.

In the first half of 2024, the cumulative domestic and overseas output value of the Taiwanese PCB industry is estimated to be NT$372.2 billion, an annual increase of 6.0%. Looking forward to the second half of 2024, the Taiwan Circuit Board Association TPCA stated that with the continued growth of the AI, satellite communications and automotive markets development, it is expected to maintain a growth trend, and the total output value for the whole year is expected to grow by 8.3% annually, reaching NT$833.7 billion, returning to the NT$800 billion mark.
