The Southeast Asian layout of the printed circuit board (PCB) group is progressing step by step. The relevant layouts of PCB leader Zhen Ding (4958), substrate leader Xinxing, Huatong, Golden Image Electronics, Jian Ding, and Formosa Optoelectronics are currently normal. Industry insiders said that they initially expanded into Southeast Asia in response to customer demand and to strengthen supply chain resilience, and currently the progress of orders, shipments and factory expansion is all normal.
Industry insiders said that Taiwan's main mid-to-high-end PCB field involves more customized products, and customers will not place orders rashly or rush the progress. From the perspective of the production cycle, it is meaningless to stock up in advance. Currently, overall order acceptance and production are normal, and the Southeast Asian layout also maintains the previous plan.
Huatong said yesterday that the investment in the Thailand factory is being carried out according to the original plan, and it continues to strive for full production capacity in response to customer demand. Tripod, a leading Taiwanese automotive PCB manufacturer, mentioned that the market conditions in the second quarter were similar to those in the first quarter. It is worried that tariffs will affect the global economy and will continue to observe the situation in the second half of the year.
The industry pointed out that judging from the current tariff figures, there is no such thing as a low-tariff region. Even though Japan and South Korea have lower tariffs than Taiwan, most Japanese and South Korean PCB substrate manufacturers have gradually withdrawn from local market manufacturing and have moved to Malaysia, Thailand and other places.
Zhen Ding previously pointed out that in the face of global uncertainty brought about by the US tariff policy, the impact on the growth momentum of the terminal consumer market needs further observation. We will continue to strengthen our global layout and supply chain resilience, be prepared to respond to policy changes and market fluctuations at any time, and ensure stable operating performance.
The first phase of Zhen Ding's new factory in Thailand is progressing as scheduled, with small-scale mass production in the second half of the year. The company is actively investing resources and developing new products, striving to successfully capture more first-tier customers after the Thai production capacity is put into production.
Xinxing and Golden Image Electronics also mentioned that the layout of the Thailand factory is proceeding according to the original plan. According to the plan, both companies will start production capacity in Thailand this year and continue to evaluate further expansion of local production capacity based on demand.
Tai Optoelectronics recently reiterated that its production capacity expansion in Malaysia is proceeding as planned. In response to strong demand in the AI market in 2025, the Company will continue to add new production capacity at one plant per quarter.
