SEMI: Semiconductor material revenue will increase by 3.8% in 2024, Taiwan will be the first for 15 consecutive years

According to statistics from the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI), the global semiconductor materials market revenue will reach US$67.5 billion in 2024, an increase of 3.8%. Taiwan's market reached US$20.1 billion, ranking first in the world for 15 consecutive years.
SEMI said that the overall semiconductor market recovery and the growing demand for advanced materials in high-performance computing and high-bandwidth memory manufacturing will drive the growth of semiconductor materials revenue in 2024.
SEMI pointed out that wafer manufacturing materials revenue will grow by 3.3% to US$42.9 billion in 2024, and packaging materials revenue will grow by 4.7% to US$24.6 billion. Due to the increase in complexity and processing steps of advanced dynamic random access memory (DRAM), 3D storage type flash memory (NAND Flash) and logic IC, chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) and photoresist have grown strongly by double digits.
However, affected by the industry's continuous destocking, especially in the mature process part, silicon wafer demand is still weak. SEMI said that silicon wafer revenue will decrease by 7.1% in 2024.
SEMI pointed out that Taiwan's market revenue reached US$20.1 billion, ranking first in the world for 15 consecutive years. The Chinese market ranked second with US$13.5 billion. The Korean market ranked third with US$10.5 billion.
