E Ink, a major electronic paper manufacturer, has created innovative electronic paper applications and announced the use of Intel's Smart Base technology, Innovation Platform Framework (Intel IPF) ecosystem and AI Assistant Builder to launch a new laptop electronic paper touchpad solution, which can create a low-power touch display interface for AI PCs and enhance user experience value.
The electronic paper module introduced in the laptop touchpad area this time not only retains the intuitiveness of the original touch operation, but also expands the interactive possibilities of the second screen. With the help of Smart Base, Intel IPF and AI Assistant Builder, real-time edge AI applications can be implemented, such as the interactive keyboard area cover of the laptop, displaying commonly used shortcuts, system reminders, and generative AI text or image content excerpts, game strategies, customized AI tasks, etc.
For example, users can see weather conditions, memos, meeting transcripts or normal display information. When the laptop is turned off, the personalized shell appearance can also be displayed.
Because e-paper has the characteristics of comfortable paper-like visual experience, low power consumption, long battery life, and outdoor visibility, it is suitable for auxiliary display applications of mobile devices such as laptops.
E Ink uses e-paper technology to continuously develop innovative application products for various fields. "Through the development tools and reference architecture provided by the Intel Smart Base ecosystem, E Ink Technology is able to create a thin and light module that better meets the design requirements of AI PC products, so that e-paper can be seamlessly integrated into the notebook computer in the touchpad area, achieving a user experience that combines energy saving, clear display and innovative interaction," said Hong Jimao, deputy general manager of E Ink Technology Business Center.
