The Taiwan stock market opened slightly higher by 12 points on Friday (December 28th), closing with a long upper shadow and a red candlestick, gaining 71 points to close at 27,626. The index fluctuated throughout the day before closing higher, with the technical outlook remaining bullish. However, volatility increased after entering the previous resistance zone. Individual stocks should be traded within the technical range.

Chen Yanping, assistant manager of Uni-President Investment Consulting, pointed out that the Taiwan stock market successfully recovered its monthly moving average. Coupled with the National Development Council's forecast that Taiwan's GDP may exceed 6% this year, the rebound in Taiwan's November consumer confidence index, and the greater than 80% probability of a rise in the Taiwan stock market in December, these positive factors are conducive to the Taiwan stock market challenging new highs before the end of the year. The Taiwan stock index is expected to fluctuate with a firm upward trend.

In terms of trading strategy, it is recommended to buy on dips, prioritizing sectors with strong earnings prospects, focusing on AI concept stocks (with Google concept stocks as a priority), semiconductor advanced process technology related stocks, materials upgrade or substitution stocks, IP stocks, PCB stocks, power and energy related stocks, apparel and footwear, bulk commodities, and biotechnology stocks.

Fan Wan-yu, assistant manager at Taishin Securities Investment Consulting, stated that driven by the US AI stock market, Taiwanese stocks in the optical communication, PCB, DRAM, component, and assembly AI supply chain sectors all rose last week. Given the continued strong outlook for the AI industry next year, a bullish approach is recommended. In the traditional manufacturing sector, plastics performed strongly, with electrical machinery, cement, and biotechnology stocks also showing gains. With the start of a profit-taking rally, attention can be paid to plastics, heavy electrical equipment, military, specialty chemicals, textiles and footwear, shipping, and financial sectors.

Huang Yi-chuan, assistant manager at First Financial Investment Consulting, believes that the US Federal Reserve's initiation of an interest rate cut cycle this year, with expectations of continued rate cuts into 2026, has created a relatively loose global monetary environment, which is beneficial for stock market performance. Furthermore, with rising expectations of a December rate cut, funds are once again concentrating on electronics stocks. Themes surrounding the AI supply chain, from hardware and chip design to heat dissipation, PCBs, and memory, continue to be hot, driving the Taiwan stock market to fluctuate and strengthen.
