Research firm Omdia has significantly raised its 2026 semiconductor revenue forecast, estimating a 62.7% increase, primarily driven by unprecedented growth in the memory market, including DRAM and NAND Flash.

Omdia stated that artificial intelligence (AI) applications have moved beyond simple question-and-answer sessions, significantly increasing demand for memory and processors, thus driving overall semiconductor industry revenue growth.

Omdia points out that to meet increasingly demanding workloads, enterprises are accelerating the replacement of outdated hardware, leading to a wave of server replacements in 2026. Benefiting from strong demand for data center servers and rising memory prices, semiconductor revenue for computing and data storage will exceed $700 billion in 2026, a 90% year-on-year increase, making it the fastest-growing semiconductor application area.

Consumer electronics and wireless sectors are also expected to grow. Omdia stated that in addition to the launch of multiple flagship phones such as foldable phones and AI phones, rising memory prices will drive semiconductor revenue growth.

Omdia pointed out that this year's semiconductor revenue growth is mainly driven by rising average selling prices, rather than shipment volume growth. The DRAM market size is estimated to nearly double, and the NAND Flash market size may quadruple.

Omdia stated that memory manufacturers are shifting their focus to producing higher-priced high-bandwidth memory (HBM), exacerbating the supply shortage of traditional memory. Strong demand from enterprises and data centers will continue to affect the market situation in 2026, with supply expected to ease only in 2027.
