SEMI: Global semiconductor equipment shipments are expected to reach $117.1 billion in 2024, a record high

The Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) announced on the 16th that the total global sales of semiconductor manufacturing equipment in 2024 will increase by 10% from US$106.3 billion in 2023 to US$117.1 billion.
In 2024, the global semiconductor front-end process equipment market showed significant growth, with wafer process equipment sales leading the way to a 9% increase, and other front-end equipment categories also increasing by 5%. This growth mainly benefited from the expansion of advanced process and mature process logic chips, advanced packaging and high-bandwidth memory (HBM) production capacity investment. At the same time, increased investment in China is also a major driving force behind it.
SEMI Global Marketing Director and Taiwan President Cao Shilun analyzed: "In 2024, the global semiconductor equipment market rebounded 10% from a slight decline in 2023, climbing to a record high of US$117.1 billion. From the spending trend of chip manufacturing equipment, we have observed that the hot regional investment, the continuous advancement of logic chip and memory technology, and the growing demand for chips driven by AI-related applications have formed an overall trend of continuous changes in the industry landscape under the intertwined effects of these factors."
From a regional perspective, China, South Korea and Taiwan remain the top three markets for semiconductor equipment spending, accounting for a combined 74% of the global market.
