The surge in demand for AI infrastructure, including data centers, servers, high-end computing, and edge computing, has fueled strong growth in the semiconductor industry, further driving integration between PCBs, substrates, and packaging. Companies like TECHNOLOGY (2383), Kingston Technology (2368), and TECH Optoelectronics (6274) not only achieved impressive first-quarter profits but are also poised to benefit from price increases.
According to statistics from the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA), the global PCB market value reached US$92.4 billion in 2025, a 15% year-on-year increase; the market is projected to grow by another 23% in 2026, reaching US$113.7 billion, with Taiwan and mainland China being key players.
According to the latest Q1 quarterly reports, in the PCB, CCL, and ABF related fields, Taikoo Technology's earnings per share (EPS) were NT$14.9, Kingboard Electronics' was NT$6.87, Taiyo Electronics' was NT$4.36, Unimicron's was NT$3.28, Nan Yatek's was NT$2.03, Teng Hui Electronics-KY's was NT$1.73, Zhen Ding Electronics-KY's was NT$1.33, Compaq's was NT$1.26, Kinsus' was NT$1.17, Unimicron's was NT$0.87, and Kingtech's was NT$0.62.
In contrast, some manufacturers still suffered losses in the first quarter. Yaohua's EPS was a loss of NT$0.4, Dingying Investment Holdings' was a loss of NT$0.74, and Taijun's was a loss of NT$2.6. With the price increase effect of high-end products expected to arrive from Q2 this year, leading companies with higher technological barriers and early positioning in high-end applications are expected to benefit first.
It's worth noting that TPCA pointed out that Taiwan's PCB industry is growing faster than the global average, with a total output value of NT$915.2 billion in 2025, representing a year-on-year increase of approximately 12%. This is higher than TPCA's March 2025 forecast of NT$854.1 billion, a year-on-year increase of 4.6%, indicating a more optimistic demand and industry outlook. The main driving force comes from the upgrade of 800G switches and AI servers, further boosting demand for high-frequency materials.
Furthermore, analysts added that with the evolution of AI GPU/ASIC, server CPU, and high-end networking chip packaging, the increased substrate area and process complexity are creating challenges in terms of capacity and yield. Although there is an oversupply of low-to-mid-range ABF (Alternating Current Fabricator), the demand for high-end ABF is strong, and substrate sizes are increasing. Even if material bottlenecks are resolved in the future, high-end ABF capacity will still be in short supply. The overall industry is expected to enter a supply shortage phase by 2027, with companies like Unimicron, Nan Ya PCB, and Kinsus showing promising future prospects.
